Powerhouse Theatre Collaborative and Spectacle Live present the first public screening of Granite Orpheus, a 70 minute independent film made entirely in New Hampshire!  Starring Powerhouse Producer Bryan Halperin, and produced and directed by John Hession and Rick Broussard of Resurrection Films, the film is a modern take on the Orpheus and Eurydice legend inspired by Jean Cocteau's 1959 film of the legend.  This screening is a fundraiser for Powerhouse and the Colonial Theatre Advancement Fund.  The showing will be followed by a discussion with the filmmakers.  For more information on the movie, check out https://www.resurrectionfilms.org/graniteorpheus.

Fun Fact

💡

This movie took 10 years to make!

Initial filming for Granite Orpheus began in 2015 as an experiment in improvisational filmmaking with a rough outline for a script, a group of talented friends as cast and crew and an annual community event providing the set and extras for filming. That planned weekend of moviemaking turned into nine busy days as word spread and new talents and resources added themselves to the project. Soon, matters of careers, life (and death) intervened and the project had to be shelved. Now, ten years later, those nine days of raw footage have been transformed into a complete 70-minute film. How those nine days survived and took shape is a story deserving a movie of its own and a testament to the original vision — that Art is a force that will find a way to reveal itself as long as the Artist is willing to endure until the end.
